Groves Boys Golf Team Shines with Five Wins in a Week

The Groves Varsity boys golf team had an outstanding week with three impressive victories.
On Tuesday, the team defeated Berkley HS with a strong score of 152-164, followed by another solid win on Wednesday against North Farmington HS, 155-163.
The Varsity highlight of the week came on Saturday at the Orange Theory Fitness Tournament at Hudson Mills Golf Course, where the team delivered an exceptional performance to take first place with a total score of 306. Congrats Jules Avot, Alex Lustig, Matt Zigele, Preston Johnson, and Nick Thiele for your standout performance.
The Groves JV Boys Golf team also had a strong showing this past week, highlighted by a couple of big wins.
To start the week, the boys went to future US-Open Oakland Hills Golf Course, where they narrowly fell to Brother Rice HS in a tiebreaker after both teams shot 171. Despite the close loss, there were excellent performances from Kolya Reemer, Gavin Hisala, Zach Bartoi, Hugo Petit, Sullivan Kepler, and Jaden Lash.
On Tuesday, the team bounced back in dominant fashion, defeating rivals Seaholm HS by an impressive 35 strokes in extremely windy conditions (153-188). Congratulations to Kolya Reemer, Gavin Hisala, Sullivan Kepler, Zach Bartoi, Jaden Lash, and Hugo Petit on an outstanding team win!
Wednesday brought another tightly contested match, but the JV Falcons came through with a clutch 169-172 win over Royal Oak HS. It was a solid performance from Jaden Lash, Masen Koch, Hugo Petit, Owen LaBrosse, Shane Goldman, and Ryder Hake!
While Friday’s Kensington Metropark Tournament didn’t end in a win, the team still put up solid scores. Shoutout to Kolya Reemer, Zach Bartoi, Gavin Hisala, and Sullivan Kepler for a strong effort.

Off to an amazing start this spring

The Groves Golf team is off to an amazing start this spring, with both Varsity and JV coming away with some impressive wins.
The Varsity boys started the season with their first league meet win in 20 years thanks to the stunning performance of Alex Lustig, Charlie Frank, Nick Thiele, Preston Johnson, Jules Avot and Matt Zigele. The team also had another great showing on a wind swept day last week at Red Run. Congrats for your great work Alex Lustig, Nick Thiele, Matt Zigele, Preston Johnson, Ryan Sloan.
JV boys golf also had an amazing start to the season, winning the BlackHawk Icebreaker Tournament with an amazing 59 (13-under par). It was an outstanding performance from Kolya Reemer, Sullivan Kepler, Gavin Hisala, and Charlie Frank who came in from Varsity to help the boys. The following day, the team went on to beat North Farmington by 50 shots (164 to 214). Congrats to Kolya Reemer, Sullivan Kepler, Zach Bartoi, Hugo Petit, Masen Koch, and Gavin Hisala!
This week, the Golf boys JV team’s schedule is loaded, with 4 matches and a tournament, including a match vs Brother Rice HS at future US-Open Oakland Hills Golf Course on Monday. Tuesday also is a big day, with the team facing its rival, Seahholm HS. Those two highly anticipated rendez-vous will be followed by a match vs Royal Oak on Wednesday, vs Bloomfield Hills on Thursday, and the Kensington Metropark Tournament to close off the week on Friday.
